Korn’s Jonathan Davis Trades In Guitar For Laptop

It appears rock bands these days are starting to tap into the power that is EDM, from Shiny Toy Guns’ recent DJ set release to the Foo Fighters’ performance with deadmau5 at this year’s Grammys.

Even Korn frontman Jonathan Davis is getting involved by going on tour under his DJ stage name, J Devil. Playing his own headlining dates, as well as five stops with the touring Identity Festival, J Devil has been keeping himself quite busy. He even has prepared an EP release (date pending) on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, as well as another EP by Killbot.

“I started doing (electronic music) for fun. I didn’t know what was gonna happen with it,” Davis tells Billboard.com. “Making electronic music and learning to produce and learning my new instrument – laptop, I call it – has been an amazing thing. I’m learning and I’m having fun playing my own tunes. I’ve really had to re-train myself. It’s totally different than writing rock songs.”

Be sure to catch him on IDentity Festival.
