Free Music Download from Italian turntablist Økapi
Who doesn’t like free music? Well we do, and we’re sharing it with you! Økapi, whose birth name is Filippo Paolini, has put a unique twist in his latest work: fixing opera.
His latest recording, titled Opera Riparata, which means “repaired opera,” is a unique technique that breaks up operas into pieces and gathering them to make entirely new compositions.
The concept derived from Milanese visual artist Bruno Munari, who developed the concept of “Opera Rotta” which means literally “broken opera” with Davide Mosconi in 1989.
“I spent six months working every day on the Opera Riparata,” Økapi, said in an email to Wired Magazine
.
Paolini’s remix compositions include electronic music, menacing and whimsical vibe opera. A perfect mix of an odd but uniquely composed sound.
“The creative approach was really fun and at times almost meditative. The end result surprised even me,”
Take a listen and let us know what you think. Is this a new fad that will be the next big thing on the music circuit?
