While Andy Moor might not be as familiar to stateside trance fans as the likes of Armin van Buuren or Above & Beyond, he’s been one of the genre’s most formidable production talents for 15 years now, and on July 6th he’ll finally release his long-awaited debut album Zero Point One on Armada Records – and Elektro Daily can confirm that it’s an absolute stunner.

Andy Moor has always been an innovator, and his creative approach is well on display across the 18 tracks here. Essentially pumping club trance, with a distinct progressive house sensibility that’s often been a trademark of Moor’s classic anthems like Air For Life, Halcyon and Faces, though there’s a vein of experimentation that runs throughout the 85 minute running time.

Opening with an epic sweep through an ambient landscape, there’s ethereal interludes, chunky broken beats, and plenty of those driving, grinding basslines that are so popular in trance a the moment (that Moor himself helped innovate), though washed over with heavy sonic blasts of electronic sound, with some beautifully detailed production.

Otherwise, there’s everything you’d expect from a pumping trance record – the melodies, the breakdowns, the female vocals – just wrapped up with plenty of unexpected sonic surprises. Progressive trance fans would be well advised to jump on Zero Point One when it drops in July.
