VHS or Beta’s “Diamonds and Dub” MP3 Released + US Tour Dates
Picking up where their last album left, Diamonds & Dub is the latest release from the Brooklyn based band VHS or Beta.
Putting a creative spin on their 2011 release Diamonds & Death, VHS duo Mark Palgy and Craig Pfunder called upon renowned DJ/producer Jacques Renault and engineer/mixer Mark Verbos to create a dub version for seven of the nine original album tracks.
“The idea of dub versions began in the late 70s and early 80s,” Palgy explains. “Artists began seeking extended 12 inch mixes of their songs to be played in nightclubs…So rather than get people to do more traditional remixes as we know them today – we decided this time around to try something that hasn’t been done in a little while.”
“Jellbean Dub” is a dark atmospheric speed-out track that slowly builds to a climax with handclaps, electric piano and thumping bass, while “Diamonds and Dub” sprinkles vocals over a landscape of beats, low sub bass lines, blips and bumps and warped oscillating synchs.
Though the album won’t be released until May 8 via Krian Music Group, you can listen and download the track “Diamonds and Dub” below.
