Elektro Exclusive: Why did Laidback Luke become a Superhero? + Don’t miss his Super You and Me show at governor’s island!
NYC will host EDM’s version of The Avengers on June 16 when house icon Laidback Luke brings his superhero-themed Super You & Me party to Governor’s Island with an all-star lineup including Datsik, Tommy Trash, PeaceTreaty and Oliver Twizt. Super You & Me, which has hit clubs around the world from Ibiza to Miami, encourages attendees to get down while dressed up as their favorite superhero. As such, Laidback Luke, together with comic legends Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane, are inviting designers to submit a superhero costume design in conjunction with this party. The winner will have their costume produced and worn by Laidback Luke at Super You & Me Governor’s Island. Learn more about the contest here
Elektro recently caught up with Luke before he took the stage at Super You & Me in Los Angles. We chatted about his favorite superheroes, (“I like the underdog position of Spiderman. “At a certain point,” Luke says, “electronic dance music was getting way too serious, especially in Europe. It turned into a situation where people were just standing around being very cool. I figured that the best times people experience are when they’re having stupid, crazy fun with their friends. With ‘Super You & Me,’ I’m trying to bring that feeling of fun back.”
