Simian Mobile Disco Drop Video for “Pareidolia”
Yesterday, Simian Mobile Disco released the video for their single, “Pareidolia” from their new album Unpatterns, which was released earlier this week. Demonstrating the same minimalistic audio and design aesthetic that the British dance duo is unrolling with the LP and its preceding singles “Cerulean” and “Seraphim,” the “Pareidolia” clip is a tightly organized barrage of precisely timed green lights and lasers synced with the track’s woozy synth beats.
The result is a cleanly hypnotic display of intelligently implemented future-tech that suits the track without either of SMD members James Ford or Jas Shaw even having to make an appearance. Food for thought: the term “pareidolia” is a “psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant.”
Simian Mobile Disco is currently on tour in Europe and will play a string of US dates in late May and early June.
